Geographic Information System

GIS is a specialized form of MIS. It has primarily been used by the Planning and Assessment Departments for land use planning and real property tax mapping. However, its real benefit is the ability to add value to 'all' departmental MIS by adding to their reporting capacity and by helping in the overall decision support system. The Key is the linkage of the GIS spatial information to the MIS text attribute database in all departments.
